NICL chief disallowed from leaving Pakistan

ISLAMABAD  (October 12, 2010) : The Commerce Ministry has reportedly disallowed Chairman of National Insurance Corporation Limited (NICL) from proceeding abroad on leave till the settlement of the 'corruption' case in the Supreme Court, as well as currently under debate in the standing committees of Senate, National Assembly, sources told Business Recorder.

NICL Chairman Ayaz Niazi, sources said, had sought leave from October 13 to October 29, 2010 for medical check-up. On October 8, Senate standing committee on commerce in a unanimous resolution directed the Commerce Ministry to put the name of NICL Chairman on Exit Control List (ECL), expressing fear that he was a flight risk. NICL Chairman is facing corruption charges in land purchase in Lahore, Karachi and property in Dubai.
